Oco Leverages Domain Expertise That Takes Business Intelligence Beyond Technological Breakthrough

With my first book “Your Show Will Go Live in 5 Seconds” scheduled for release on November 2, 2009, one of the more daunting realizations I came to was the fact that there is an innumerable number of titles in what can only be referred to as the infinity of the publishing universe.

The advent of social media, self-publishing platforms and highly accessible distribution channels has provided the means for almost anyone to become a “published author.”

Despite these “breakthroughs,” the sustainable value of any book (and its enduring success) is still heavily dependent on the caliber of the content between the covers.

In my case, the years of experience which has manifested itself in more than 350 papers and articles coupled with the opportunity to speak before audiences of up to 400 people has hopefully been translated into a book that represents a compelling, thought provoking read that will deliver valuable insight to its readers.  I believe that it will.

In much the same fashion that my experience has provided me with the ability to leverage the latest technological resources to publish a quality book, Oco’s on-demand Business Intelligence (BI) solutions also extends beyond the technological breakthroughs associated with today’s SaaS solutions.  Solutions which provide buyers with access to the real-world, real-time data that enables them to make best result purchasing decisions at the transactional level, and are representative of the transformation of the somewhat static ERP spend management tools into the on-demand spend intelligence solutions that are necessary to effectively operate in a complex, globalized market.

However, and has outlined in the opening comments of today’s post, the amazing ease by which one can publish a book does not replace nor circumvent the enduring requirement for quality content.

With SaaS BI, the same requirement is equally important in that technological innovation alone, even within the framework of a low-cost entry model would mean very little if the “intelligence” element delivered through the application was found wanting.  It is this critical area that both differentiates and distinguishes a vendor from within the universe of emerging discontinuous innovation platforms that are rapidly becoming the new standard in enterprise BI.

In this regard, and referencing their “industry-specific domain expertise,” it is also what makes Oco’s solutions both different and distinguishable.

On the August 21st PI Window on Business segment “Beyond Business Intelligence Technology: The Importance of Domain Expertise” I will be welcoming Oco’s CEO William (Bill) Copacino who has authored 3 books and more than 150 articles on supply chain management, to discuss the transformational changes that are redefining our understanding of Business Intelligence.
