What is great about blogs is that they don’t just provide information but deliver meaningful insights and perspectives from the viewpoint of the writer.
In fact it is this personal touch and unique individual understanding that is perhaps one of the main reasons for blogging’s ascension to the heights of credible news source. Perhaps it is also the reason that the FTC will be holding roundtable discussions and workshops in an effort to answer the question “How Will Journalism Survive the Internet Age?”
Of the many important distinctions between “traditional” journalism and the emerging social media world is the collaborative versus competitive nature of its writers. One of the ways that this is demonstrated is through Michael Lamoureux’s Sourcing Innovation “Sourcing Tomorrow” series.
In the invitation I received from Michael to participate, he provided the following overview:
Bringing You the “Best from the Best,” Sourcing Innovation is running a two special series this month on “Sourcing Tomorrow.”
In the first series, distinguished thought leaders of e-Sourcing and e-Procurement software vendors are sharing their thoughts on what technologies and strategies buyers can use to climb out of the recession and ride the leading edge of the wave to recovery.
In the next series, distinguished thought leaders of service and solution providers will be sharing their thoughts on the same topic.
The natural limitations of traditional media obviously makes such a collaborative undertaking difficult if not impossible – can you imagine journalists from the Washington Post contributing to a series in the New York Times?
While other commitments precluded me from accepting Michael’s invitation, be sure to check out what promises to be an interesting invitational series through the following link.
Also remember to tune in on Monday for my interview with Maine’s Republican gubernatorial candidate Matt Jacobson to discuss the implications of a Buy American exemption on the State’s utilization of Canadian-based suppliers. You can access the live broadcast through the On-Demand Player below:
