In my March 24th post titled What was the end result of the NIGP #CodeGate Story? Internal Audit may provide the answers, I had reported that I had made a request to obtain copies of the NIGP’s Strategic Partnerships/Forensic Audit, and the corresponding recommendations by Florida-based public relations firm Pierson Grant.
My hope at the time was that a simple e-mail to NIGP Secretary/CEO Rick Grimm would suffice. After all, it would be reasonable to conclude that providing access to said report would make sense given the revelations of last year’s NIGP #CodeGate coverage, and of course the fact that this is a matter of public interest.
Unfortunately, and for reasons I must admit elude me at this point in time, I did not receive a response to said requests.
As a result, and pursuant to Article I, section 24 of the Florida Constitution, and chapter 119, F.S. – Open Records Law, I sent the following official letter to Mr. Grimm this morning via e-mail. For greater certainty that my request had been received, I copied every member of the NIGP Governing Board, as well as several NIGP Staff members including the Executive Director of Finance & Administration, Tina Borger, CPPO and, Governance Coordinator Tina Boutcher.
I have already received confirmation that five (5) people have received/read the e-mail.
