Everywhere I turn lately I am seeing quotes from anyone and everyone, so I thought that I would jump on the bandwagon from a procurement standpoint.
Are these wise words I am am sharing based on my many, many, many (well you get the idea) . . . years of personal experience?
While I can’t attest to the wisdom of the words, I can tell you that they are what I honestly think.
Anyway, here is my questionable quote for today . . . tell me if you agree or disagree.

Not sure the first sentence works for me. Can’t think of examples where technology becomes ineffective, it just doesn’t give competitive advantage. Agree with the second sentence though. The Mcfarlan grid is a good way of classifying technology life cycle.

Think about it this way Simon . . . why are some clients successful with say an Ariba or Coupa or for that matter any service provider solution, while others are not?
What is the variable? It’s people.
No matter what solution you choose, in the end success is based upon the people involved with its implementation.
Hence the more you rely on the technology while abdicating the important role you play in its successful implementation and utilization, the less effective it becomes.
In short, what I am talking about is more of a people problem – especially with the advent of the commoditized cloud, than it is a technology problem.
