Why Is Free Speech Bad For Procurement?

“Jon, I sometimes get ostracized by my own Procurement community when I make a statement that a lot of the new age procurement tech is still trying to make the “horses run faster”… they are still very much centered around a source to contract and a procure to pay tool.. and you can only add enough juice to make the legacy processes run faster, more efficiently.” – “SK” Sanjeev Kumar Roy (October 4th, 2024)

The above comment to one of my posts stopped me cold in my tracks!

Here is my response:

“SK” Sanjeev Kumar Roy, as I read and reread your comment, the following two immediate thoughts came to mind:

1️⃣ Far too many companies are chasing solutions versus solving problems – https://bit.ly/3FBnFRr

2️⃣ Why would you be ostracized for expressing an honest opinion meant to stimulate meaningful dialogue and greater understanding?

Are we really at the stage where different ideas, emerging insights, and common sense approaches based on sound processes are met with blind resistance?

One indisputable truth that cannot be ignored is the generational initiative failure rate of 80% spanning several decades that won’t go away!

How many feel they can’t speak their mind without fear of being “ostracized” like SK?
