So, tomorrow morning at 11:00 AM EDT, I will be a guest panelist on Sam Gupta’s Analysts Gone Wild Podcast—cue Guns N’ Roses.

For those familiar with my procurement podcast, which aired 900 episodes between 2009 and 2019, you know I love doing research. My number one rule was that I wanted to know as much, if not more, about the subject matter I would be discussing with my guests.

What can I say? Some people are hopeless romantics, and I’m always hopelessly curious.

Tonight, here is what went through my mind as I read the agenda of topics we would be covering in the 60-minute show:

  • Who are these companies?
  • Why have I never heard of them before?
  • What is their collective annual revenue?
  • Which ProcureTech solution provider would be the best partner for them?

Here are the answers to the above questions:

WHO ARE THEY?

Below is a table comparing the seven Generative AI (Gen AI) companies—BMC, Certinia, Laserfiche, Make AI, HG Insights, Dashworks, and Pipefy—based on their founding year, focus area, key Gen AI features, and industries served. This comparison draws on available web information, focusing on their roles in procurement, supply chain, or related fields where relevant, while critically assessing their offerings.

WHY HAVEN’T I HEARD ABOUT THEM BEFORE?

he ProcureTech narrative often highlights innovation leaders, but the reality is that many companies, even those with solid offerings, struggle to break through due to market saturation and budget constraints—60% of procurement leaders cite budget as a barrier to automation adoption (Procurement Magazine, January 2025). Smaller or niche players like Dashworks and Make AI may have innovative solutions, but without significant funding or partnerships (like ORO Labs’ acquisition of ProcureTech in March 2025), they remain under the radar. Additionally, the focus on AI and automation in procurement is still maturing, with data quality issues noted as a core challenge (ProcureTech, September 2024), which might limit the practical impact—and visibility—of companies like Pipefy or Make AI.

Why You’re Hearing About Them Now

Your interest in Gen AI companies likely brought these firms into focus, as they’re leveraging AI in various capacities (e.g., Certinia’s forecasting, Laserfiche’s OCR). The recent wave of AI adoption in procurement—highlighted by events like the 2024 ProcureTech100 and articles on AI tools (Procurement Magazine, September 2024)—has elevated companies with AI capabilities, even if they weren’t previously prominent in your sphere.

WHAT IS THEIR COLLECTIVE ANNUAL REVENUE?

Adding the estimated revenues:

  • BMC: $2,500 million
  • Certinia: $300 million
  • Laserfiche: $76.1 million
  • Make AI: $30 million
  • HG Insights: $75 million
  • Dashworks: $1.6 million
  • Pipefy: $15 million

Total = $2,500 + $300 + $76.1 + $30 + $75 + $1.6 + $15 = $2,997.7 million, or approximately $3 billion.

WHICH ProcureTech COMPANY WOULD BE THE BEST PARTNER?

Now you know what I am thinking and will be talking about, be sure to join Sam and the panel tomorrow to see what questions or comments they have regarding the above “recently in the news” companies.
