While Forbes reference to Procurement Insights is nice, the insights of Vitasek’s article on negotiation is the real story

Okay, I have to admit it, it is exciting to see the Procurement Insights’ brand referenced in an article in Forbes.

However, it is Kate Vitasek’s insights in her piece titled Procurement Departments Negotiating “Too Aggressively” that is obviously the real story.

I met Kate in person for the first time this past November at the Virginia 2014 Forum.  She was a member of a panel which included IACCM’s Tim Cummins, NIGP’s Rick Grimm and The Hackett Group’s Chris Sawchick.  I was the moderator.

In front of approximately 700 plus professionals from across the Commonwealth, we talked about the changes that are reshaping both the industry and its professionals.  It was to say the least an active exchange.  You can watch the video by clicking on the image below.

As someone to whom, in a recent post, I referred to as being an important figure in facilitating the needed transformation in the procurement industry, Vitasek’s Forbes article is equal parts insightful, controversial and thought provoking.  In other words it is a must read, as beyond her own perspectives, the author cites numerous references from other thought leaders relating to negotiating contracts.
