I have recently heard comments about waking up in bed with a horse head and other such fables of power and influence.
Such comments confirmed what I have always believed that being in a position of power through which you can influence others is a privilege and responsibility. In other words, real power should be used to both benefit and enrich the lives of others.
What are your thoughts regarding the responsibility associated with having a position of power?

I would add the word accountability. People in positions of power should not only be responsible for results and for the people who work for them, but be accountable as well. For example, they should not try to pass blame onto others for their own shortcomings and poor decisions. Accountability means consequences for the person in power, not just declaring that one is accountable and then business and financial rewards as usual. The latter is demonstrating a lack of accountability.
