Friday Musings: Why Reese’s would approve of PROACTIS’ Acquisition of Perfect Commerce

By now you have already heard the news that UK-based PROACTIS is acquiring US-based Perfect Commerce.

Besides providing further evidence that we are at the very beginning of a looming M&A upswing, it is also a sign that these companies have come to the realization that rather than attempting to penetrate new global markets as a foreign enterprise, capitalizing on the indigenous presence of an existing provider makes a good deal of sense.

By acquiring Perfect Commerce, PROACTIS gains a greater and more meaningful presence in the U.S. Conversely, Perfect Commerce can use PROACTIS’ UK presence as a gateway to new vistas overseas.

The question all this raises, is who’s next?

Ideal M&A Players

Personally, I think that two organizations that would be great M&A initiators would be Ivalua and Zycus.  Both have experienced real success while still being masters of their own destiny. There is no downside with either company regardless of which side of the acquisition fence they are on.

Scout is another company that everyone should keep an eye on as well, although they would more likely be the acquired as opposed to an acquirer.

Finally, what about Nipendo?

I think that both the company’s leadership and technology is great.

Anyway, these are the names of a few companies that immediately came to my mind as ideal M&A players. Only time will tell if my gut instinct is right or if I have taken one too many blows to the head.

What do you think?

Who do you believe will be in the next M&A announcement?
