What Is The One “Single Source Of Truth” Procurement Keeps Missing?

You have shared another thought-provoking post, Joël Collin-Demers.

As you know, Indirect MRO is an area about which I never get tired of talking.

In my recent post, Are you chasing solutions or solving problems? (Part 1 of 3) I talk about an agent-based versus equation-based approach. Here is the link – https://bit.ly/3FBnFRr

Everything you are talking about is excellent and on the money and will improve procurement. But – and this is a big BUT, the overall impact regarding Indirect Procurement will be minimal because it is “solution-siloed” to procurement. In other words, the procurement process will improve, but not the procurement outcomes. Read the nuts and bolts section of the above case study from my work with the DND.

To reiterate, you want to avoid a “solutions-silo” equation-based approach; otherwise, you will not move the needle beyond the old SOA “loose coupling” challenges of ERPs. Modularity requires a foundation or a Hub. What is the unifying “Hub” in your outline beyond the procurement department?

As a side note, I was talking with Stephany Lapierre, and she gets it, as do Sarah Scudder and her team from SourceDay regarding “unification” under a single standard or source of truth.
