Can AI Really Outperform Classical Dev? Our Experiment Says Yes

Konstantin Babenko, Ph.D., Your post on LinkedIn reminded me of the following:

Marie Barone vs The Bread Machine:

Of course, there are two considerations:

  • AI, like advanced algorithms, is nothing new. With funding from the Government’s Scientific Research & Experimental Development Program “SR&ED,” I developed a platform to support the DND’s national IT infrastructure – in the late 1990s.
  • Gartner indicates that 80% of all AI initiatives will fail – with 30% being abandoned outright.

What you are talking about isn’t new and exciting; it is a natural evolution of technology. What is problematic is that it is being repackaged and resold en masse as a “silver bullet” -which it is not.

In 10 to 15 years, we will look back at today’s technology with the same dismissive attitude we now have toward floppy drives, 2800bpm modems, and dot-matrix printers.

In that context, after 40-plus years in high-tech, you should know that I love technology, but it only works within the agent-based rather than equation-based model. In the first review, it appears that you have used the former rather than the latter by understanding and solving problems using a people-process-technology approach.
