As I had indicated in the article below, I reached out to ORO Labs for comments. Unfortunately, I ran into the old “Off The Record” wall (or Stonewall).
Here is my reply to Emily Rakowski, the Chief Marketing Officer for Oro Labs. (By the way, I had initially contacted Lalitha Rajagopalan – Oro’s Co-Founder, who immediately transferred me to Emily.)
Good Morning, Emily.
The first thought that came to mind reading your email is the “Off the record” reference.
Why off the record?
If that is how you truly feel, why not say it out loud without filtering it through the filter of “smartly-crafted text?” If you think I am short of a few brain cells, then say it and tell me why. If I am wrong, I will admit it and ring that bell far and wide.
For example, are you willing to say that Oro Labs has no plans to be acquired by SAP in the future? If you are, I will gladly share that with my community. Why does it have to be off the record?
As for a demonstration of your platform, I am open to it. Let’s set it up for early next week. I will, of course, record the demonstration – including our conversation. As for case references, are you willing to give me direct access to your clients for an interview – without Oro Labs’ participation or moderation?
You may or may not be aware of the seriousness of the period we are entering. A growing number of solution providers are in trouble, and the implementation failure rates are high. That is the reality we are all facing in 2025.
Are you willing to go on the record with me? Can I share your email in its entirety?
Best,
Jon
So, here is my question: Beyond asking why a marketing person is talking for the co-founder, why does everything have to be off the record or presented in pre-filtered text? The topic at hand isn’t about marketing!
Are there at least five solution providers out there more interested in getting it right versus looking and sounding right?
