Video Dispatch from the 3rd Annual Government Summit in Washington, D.C.

Posted on April 29, 2010

Well it was a terrific 2 days in Washington as the PI Window on Business took its show on the road thanks to sponsor Elcom and the tremendous work of the 2010 Business of Government Summit’s organizer, Shared Services and Outsourcing Network (SSON).

"Building Bridges"

It was a first rate venue that saw us broadcast “live” 5 incredibly informative sessions centered on “Building a Transparent, Collaborative and High-Performance Government Capable of Addressing the Challenges of the 21st Century.”

Uniting Practioners, Providers & Advisors

The attendees of mostly senior officials and executives from the public sector world were exposed to an incredible array of thought leaders, whose shared insights and experiences provided much needed (and welcomed) perspectives on both the challenges  and potential strategies for effective government practices in the 21st century.

One presentation that immediately comes to mind was the one delivered by NASA’s Richard Arbuthnot, who managed all aspects of that agency’s Shared Services effort having served as the Executive Director, NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC), since March, 2004.

As the official Blog for the PI Social Media Network’s coverage of the 2010 Summit, I know that the Essential Connections Blog will deliver a comprehensive rundown of Arbuthnot’s session as well as the other sessions we covered in a series of upcoming posts.

I would be remiss if I did not also direct your attention to a special PI Window on Business Roundtable discussion on transparency in government, which included the former CIO for the US Federal Government, Karen Evans, IACCM’s Tim Cummins, 30 year UK public sector veteran and author of “Towards Tesco – improving public sector procurement” Colin Cram and, Washington-based expert author Judy Bradt who has helped more than 6,000 clients win in excess of $300 million US in government contracts.

These were all riveting, thought-provoking sessions that are now readily available to you to compliment the PowerPoint presentations that will be made available through the SSON Event site which you can access through the Procurement Insights’ Summit Event Page, along with the links to the On-Demand broadcasts themselves.

In fact, of the many great comments we received, one of the most frequent was the enthusiasm expressed for having access to the on-demand broadcasts.  Specifically, the fact that rather than having only notes to reference, attendees will now be able to listen to the presentations and share them with co-workers who did not have the opportunity to attend in person.
