An amazing honor for which I am both speechless and humbled . . . I received today an American Flag that was flown over the Virginia State Capital in Richmond in recognition of my contribution to the 2014 Public Procurement Forum.
In the accompanying letter the Director wrote that my presentation on “Bridging the Disconnect between Finance and Purchasing” was extremely helpful to an extraordinary number of the Commonwealth’s procurement staff,” and that the insights from these sessions will enable “many to re-examine their current activities with an eye on improvements.”
While I have had a great deal for which to be thankful in my life, including being an Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year finalist in 2004 and 2005, this by far is the one I will cherish the most.
Thanks to Director Robert E. Gleason, Bob Sievert and the entire Virginia team. Since I began covering Virginia back in 2007, you have and continue to be a beacon of excellence in public sector procurement.

Jon, this is brilliant news – though I am hardly surprised. Your profile is rising generally and is due to your excellent journalism and your creation of a great on-line journal. I am delighted for you.
