This company – ProPurchaser, reminds me of that old American Express “Do You Know Me Commercial.”

You probably wouldn’t if you weren’t around and old enough to watch television in the 1970s or 1980s.

The premise for the ads was quite simple: They featured celebrities who were well-known by name but not always by face. Each ad showcased a celebrity discussing their achievements and the challenges of not being recognized in person, concluding with the individual presenting their American Express card and emphasizing its importance.

Like the celebrities in the old commercials, when Kelly Barner introduced me to ProPurchaser late last year, I had to ask, who?

Being in this industry for as long as I have, while I don’t know everyone, I have to admit that I was surprised I had not heard of a fellow Canadian named Rod Sherkin, who founded ProPurchaser in 2000. Here we are in 2025, and many—okay, most people still don’t know Rod or his company, yet the people who do are glad they met him.

In the image above, five procurement professionals have given Rod and ProPurchaser their permission to use their names and faces to talk about ProPurchaser and why they work with Rod and his team.

From a personal point of view, in this super-hyped AI era my view regarding this solution provider is fairly simple: they may not solve all of your procurement and supply chain problems, but the ones they do solve, they do better than anyone else I have come across.

When it comes to procurement and commodity price intelligence and negotiation Rod’s expertise and experience as a CPO comes through loud and clear in the results. What’s wrong with a simple and fast bottomline win that isn’t complicated, and has no interface hassles?
