I know it’s been said many times, many ways . . . okay I am just coming out of the holiday season so excuse the reference to the Christmas carol lyrics.
Anyway, if I have said it once I have said it a million times . . . social media and procurement are a great combination.
I can think of no better example – or better material for my first post of 2014 – than my exchange in the IACCM LinkedIn Group earlier today.
Specifically my reference to Andy Akrouche’s December 23rd post “The (Real) Art of the Deal” and the resulting comment stream which I will now share with you;
While I will provide you with updates relating to any further comments, the real question is whether or not success in managing complex relationships is an art form limited to a select few genetically predisposed individuals.
My belief, as stated above, is that education and the desire to build transparent and mutually beneficial relationships leveraging an effective model is what really works.
What do you think?

I must admit that I didn’t think I would see a nature vs nurture debate on a procurement blog. It would seem to be that It has to be a combination of the two. Some people are obviously predisposed to perform well at some tasks although at the same time I believe almost anyone can be taught and become good at new skills. What I have generally seen though is that people are generally good and excell at the things they enjoy whether they have a natural innate ability or not. I have seen situations when someone has said you cant do that, and rather that being a reflection on natural ability or an ability to learn that skill it is more a reflection that that person not being able to see a way how they can do it. I would say that you alone know what your capable of.
