In 2011, one of my most popular 2-day lecture series, “The Changing Face of Procurement,” referred to the following quote by Eric Hoffer:
“In times of change, learners inherit the earth while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists.”
I remember doing a three-country, 13-city tour in six weeks and found that the reaction to it was universal – like winter, change is coming, what do we do next was the common question. What surprised and resonated the most was the recognition that similar shifts were happening in the CIO and CFO offices and how these separate yet cross-functional shifts impacted all three collectively.
