EDITOR’S NOTE: Here is an excerpt from my response to a LinkedIn post that was championing the importance of data.

Data Management as easy as 1,2,3

Does anyone in this discussion stream believe that eating right, getting regular exercise, and at least 8 hours of sleep AREN’T good for you?

I went through the list of the 100 people who reacted to this post, and while there are certainly practitioners, an equal number of providers are giving their thumbs up. In short, we are preaching to the choir and getting a lot of AMENS but need more ACTION.

Where are the actual case studies demonstrating data utilization outcomes before and after? For example – https://bit.ly/3oe5Vql

Like eating right, sleeping right, and exercising, have we become numb to the data importance mantra?

It would be a good idea to do an eBook referencing actual case studies with a start (before clean data), middle (getting clean data), and ending (outcome of clean data) that elevates the discussion beyond a conceptual standpoint? Let’s call it Data Tales.

MY QUESTION TO PRACTITIONERS

I will assume that the question of whether and why data is important has already been answered.

What I really want to know is how you, as a practitioner, have successfully used your data to deliver the desired outcome. You don’t have to name your company or give confidential details. All I want to know are examples of how you captured, cleansed, and used your data to achieve a good result.
