The world is being choked by solution-provider announcements. How do you sift through the mass to separate the noise from the real news?
Look at these two announcements. Which one tells you what was achieved, and which talks solely about future anticipated outcomes?
Or This One . . .
Here is an even more pertinent question: Which was the first posted, and why does it matter?
My Thinking
The Solutions o9—Barilla Press Release was dated December 18th, 2023. You can read it in its entirety through the following link.
Here is the thing—the Solutions o9 press release talks about futures only. However, my efforts to contact the solution provider for an update on the initiative’s progress, e.g., Barilla’s tangible results, have not been answered.
The SourceDay – BraunAbility news appeared in a LinkedIn post by the company’s co-founder on August 20th, 2024.
While still not an in-depth look at the outcome, what is good about the SourceDay post is the following:
- It is a post-implementation release with albeit limited but tangible results, e.g., a 35% increase in on-time delivery and a 22% reduction in on-hand inventory. I would like to know the impact of the “made life easier for buyers and suppliers” from an FTE and dollar standpoint.
- As I stated in my recent post, “When it comes to AI, Show Me The Results (Money)!” after the confetti of new account press releases is swept away, I discussed how very few solution providers offer either a progress report or measurable outcomes. For example, I wonder how the Databricks and ZIP implementation is going.
The Takeaway
With over 80% of AI initiatives failing and some solution providers pulling back from their GenAI strategies because they don’t work or can’t sell them, press releases and industry awards are useless.
Show me the results – I appreciate SourceDay for waiting until they had something meaningful to say and share beyond rainbow and unicorn promises.
