Jon W. Hansen – I know you will have to dwell on this for a bit to figure out how to write the masterpiece that’s coming … Michael Lamoureux, LinkedIn comment (August 25, 2024)

cc Michael Lamoureux I have a great deal of respect for Tim Cummins‘ opinion, which is why what he wrote below about a year after I started the Procurement Insights blog in May 2007 continues to resonate with me:

“It is always rewarding to talk with someone who brings insight and intelligence to the conversation; it is especially so when they can then record and comment on that conversation in a precise and highly informative fashion. John clearly has those skills.”

I learned how to combine Will Rogers’ horse sense with a scientific dissertation very early in my career when a top CEO gave me the following advice: If you can’t explain in 20 seconds why I should be listening to you, I am not interested.

The 20 seconds were for effect, but their point was clear—whether you flunked out of elementary school or have won a Nobel Peace or Pulitzer Prize, the more complicated you make something, the more it shows you do not understand it.

For almost 30 years, I have been talking about the importance of using an agent-based versus equation-based implementation model. Here is a link to a recent post providing an overview of what an agent-based model is and how it works in the real world – https://bit.ly/3FBnFRr

Success is not complicated; knowing where and what to look for to achieve it is pretty straightforward.

Where are you looking for success?
