The Start of Procurement Foundry

I have written many articles, papers, and books over the years under my name for other publications – even more for ghostwritten articles.

Occasionally, I look back over the decades at some of the publications for which I have written. Collectively, they make quite an archive.

In 2019, Kelly Barner contacted me about a fellow named Michael Cadieux, who was just starting a new community called Procurement Foundry. She said they were looking for a good writer with deep knowledge of the procurement industry and asked if I would be interested.

I usually receive several requests a week to write or ghostwrite for someone, and I was not sure if I could take on the assignment as there are only so many hours in the day – even though my day usually starts at 6:00 AM. However, because I respected Kelly, I said I would hear what Michael had to say. I am glad I did.

Michael was a gregarious and sincere individual who had a vision of creating a community of procurement professionals that would come together through mutual interest, experiences and expertise. It brought to mind a post I had written in August 2008 titled – The Web 2.0 Association: A Dynamic Engagement Between Stakeholders Sharing The Same Interests And Goals (Canadian Public Procurement Council Profile).

Talking about a similar visionary – Kathleen Muretti, I wrote the following:

“The fact that Social Networks initiate, develop and will ultimately define relationships in the 21st century means that this emerging “medium” will play an important role in effective supply chain practice.  As a result it is imperative that associations take the lead in terms of educating and empowering the supply chain professional to both compete and excel in an increasingly globalized marketplace.”

Like Kathleen Muretti before him, Michael was a visionary – this time in the 21st century.

All this being said, here is the link to the contributions that were published under my name on the Procurement Foundry blog. Of course, after a little more than 2 years I moved on, but the content of the blog is ass engaging and informative as ever.

Michael Cadieux, it is five years later and you have made a difference in our industry.
