MY RESPONSE
The short answer is using an Agent-based versus Equation-based development and implementation model.
When the Government of Canada‘s Scientific Research and Experimental Development program funded my research to develop one of the first – maybe even the first, self-learning algorithms within a nascent AI framework to support the DND’s IT infrastructure through a more efficient MRO procurement process, the AI used in 1999, will work in 2024.
In short, AI, Generative AI, and Agentic AI are not new. They are not exciting breakthroughs, nor are they a competitive edge. Like my teenage daughter’s recent discovery of the Beatles, these “tools” are as great today as they were 20 years ago. However, to succeed, we must finally learn how to use them properly, e.g., using an agent-based rather than equation-based development and implementation model.
In the meantime, regarding AI, here is the link to a recent Procurement Insights Post titled “What Is The Relationship Between ERPs And GenAI?” – https://bit.ly/3D3J1Je
This post delves deeper into the introduction of “AI” into an existing ERP environment (see below).
