On March 26, 2009, I aired the very first episode of my radio show on the Blog Talk Radio Network. Ten years later, after almost 900 episodes, I decided to end the show, and it is understandable why it is hard to remember all of the segments.
However, it wasn’t until I was able to recover some of what I thought were the lost episodes of the series that I was reminded of some of the great guests and energized discussions on topics that have interestingly enough stood well against the test of time. In fact, if the original date of the broadcast wasn’t posted, it would very likely pass for present-day news.
Over the coming weeks, I will reshare from the recovered episodes some of the interviews that will not only be of interest today but also provide a contextual history that can explain how we arrived at this particular point in 2024.
Here are three of them – click on the segment title to access the BTR Platform:
Acquisition News: Ivalua CMO Alex Saric Talks About Directworks Acquisition (Original Broadcast Year – 2017)
Back in April, I welcomed Ivalua SVP Sales and Business Development Amol Joshi to the show to discuss the company’s big win in Arizona, successes with Quebec Hydro and Toronto’s Cadillac Fairview, and other notable account wins, including US Foods, Honeywell, and Credit Suisse.
To say that Ivalua is a company on the rise may be an understatement, especially given their recent acquisition of Directworks, a company who has cloud-based platform that provides supplier management and process automation solutions for the manufacturing sector.
Alex Saric is joining me today to discuss the “business” implications of this news.
Procurious Big Ideas Summit: Transforming Procurement The IBM Way (Original Broadcast Year – 2017)
The Procurious Big Ideas Summit scheduled to take place on September 28th in Chicago promises to bring across the pond the same energy and insights as last years event in the UK.
To do this, the organizers have lined up an impressive array of speakers, one of whom will join me today.
Over the next 30 minutes, I will talk with IBM Vice President of Global Procurement Graham Wright, and we will focus on a number of key discussion points.
Spend Matters SolutionMap: A Talk With Pierre Mitchell (Original Broadcast Year – 2017)
NOTE: The interview starts at the 8:00-minute mark
On April 10th, 2017, I received a press release announcing that Spend Matters released its first SolutionMap, an essential tool for procurement executives and their teams to assess and understand vendor capability on an ongoing basis.
In today’s segment, I am joined by Spend Matters’ Chief Research Officer Pierre Mitchell to talk about SolutionMap, including the just-released rankings focusing on the following four questions;
- Looking ahead to the future, what is the long-term vision for the SolutionMap tool
- What was the inspiration behind SolutionMap, and how is it different from a Magic Quadrant?
- There is a reference to “rankings (that) are based equally on demonstrated technology/solution capability as well as on customer input.” How large is the customer pool, and how do you correlate the two?
- Let’s discuss the most current rankings. What stands out the most in terms of the company’s reference? How can those accessing the reports best use the information?
In future posts, I will dig further into the archives to bring you interviews with some of the top thought leaders of the day who are still a source of timely insight in 2024.
